Stinger SPTG1 12V Battery & Charging System Tester
Check Battery Health Before Replacing Parts
A slow crank or electrical problem doesn't always mean the battery needs replacing. The Stinger SPTG1 Battery Conductance Tester helps evaluate a 12V lead-acid battery and check the vehicle's starting and charging systems, giving you useful information before you start swapping components.
Three Diagnostic Test Modes
- Battery test: Analyze battery voltage, cold-cranking capability, resistance, and overall battery condition using conductance technology.
- Starting-system test: Evaluate cranking performance to help investigate starting problems.
- Charging-system test: Check charging performance to help identify issues requiring further diagnosis.
Specifications and Applications
- Brand / model: Stinger SPTG1
- Intended applications: 12V automotive, marine, and powersports lead-acid batteries; 12V vehicle starting and charging systems
- Listed battery-capacity measurement range: 30–200Ah
- Voltage measurement range: 7–30V DC; this does not establish compatibility with 24V vehicle-system testing
- Test connections: Double-conductor Kelvin clamps
- Power-up: Powers on when properly connected to the battery
Use the Correct Battery Rating
Select the appropriate rating standard and enter the battery's labeled rating before testing. Incorrect settings can produce misleading pass/fail results. A discharged battery may need to be charged according to its manufacturer's instructions and retested before deciding it needs replacement. Batteries below 7V will not test properly.
This is a diagnostic conductance tester, not a battery charger or jump starter. Do not assume compatibility with lithium batteries. Follow the supplied instructions and compare charging results with the vehicle manufacturer's specifications.
